  • ತಿಂದ್ಕಂಡು ತಿಂದ್ಕಂಡು ತಿರ್ಗಾಡುಮೆ(=ನಾ ಬರೀ ತಿಂದುಕೊಂಡು ಉಂಡುಕೊಂಡು ತಿರುಗಾಡುವೆ) ನನ್‍ಮೇಲ್ ಕ್ವಾಪ ನಿನ್‍ಗ್ಯಾಕಮ್ಮಿ
    • tiMdkaMDu tiMdkaMDu tirgaaDume(=naa barI tiMdukoMDu uMDukoMDu tirugaaDuve) nan^mEl kvaapa nin^gyaakammi
    • Meaning: This is said of a do-nothing, who eats heavily and loaf around with out doing any work, but who shouts/angry on others(family Members) who actually toil to make a living

 

  • ತಲೆ ತಲೆಗು ಪಟ್ಟ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಗೆ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಕೆಟ್ಟ
    • tale talegu paTTa hoTTege illade keTTa
    • Meaning: Every one are the heads but no one is capable

 

  • ತಾಯಿ ಸೂಳೆ ಮಗಳು ಸೂಳೆ ದೇವರ ಬಾನ ಹೊರೊರು ಯಾರು?
    • taayi sULe magaLu sULe dEvara baana hororu yaaru?
    • Literal: mother is a whore, daughter is a whore, who will carry/bear the rice offered to god?
    • Meaning: Neither you want to do the job nor want to allow me, then how job can get done?

 

  • ತಬ್ಬಲಿ ತಲೆ ಬೊಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಆನೆಕಲ್ಲು ಮಳೆ ಬಂತು
    • tabbali tale bOlisikoMDare aanekallu maLe baMtu
    • Literal: if an orphan shaves his head off, the heaven showered hailstones.

 

  • ತನ್ನೂರಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಳಲಾರದವ ಪರೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಳಾನೆಯೆ?
    • tannUralli bALalAradava parUrinalli bALAne?
    • Literal: one who can’t live in his native land, can he [ever live] in a foreign land?

 

  • ತನ್ನ ಊರಿಗೆ ರಂಗ ಪರ ಊರಿಗೆ ಮಂಗ
    • tanna Urige raMga para Urige maMga
    • Literal: in homeland he is a charming god (Ranga), in a foreign land he is a monkey.

 

  • ತಲೆ ತಟ್ಟಿ ನೆಲ ನೋಡಿ ನಡೆ
    • tale taTTi nela nODi naDe
    • Literal: pat the head, watch the track and [start to] walk [forward]
    • Equivalent: think before you leap

 

  • ತಲೆಯವನ ಮಾತು, ಮುಂದುಕ್ ಉಪ್ಪು ಹಿಂದುಕ್ ಬೆಲ್ಲ
    • taleyavana maatu, muMduk uppu hiMduk bella
    • Literal: advice of a level-headed, at first [tastes like] salt, at last [tastes like] sugar.

 

  • ತೊರೆ ನೀರು ಇದ್ದರೂ ಬಾವಿ ನೀರು ಹೆಚ್ಚು
    • tore nIru iddarU baavi nIru heccu
    • Literal: Though we have access to lake water, watersource in our own frontyard is dearer.

 

  • ತಾಯ ಹಳಿದರೂ ನೀರ ಹಳಿಯ ಬೇಡ
    • taaya haLidarU nIra haLiya bEDa
    • Literal: In case, [you have to scorn,] scorn the mother, never [scorn] the water (the source of life)

 

  • ತೊಟ್ಟಿಲೊಳಗಣ ಕೂಸಾದರೂ ಅತ್ತ ಹೊರತು ಹಾಲು ಕೊಡರು.
    • toTTila oLagaNa kUsu aadarU atta horatu haalu koDaru
    • Literal: Though [she is] a baby confined to the cradle, without crying people won’t give(feed) milk [to her].
    • Meaning: Without asking, help wouldn’t be forthcoming, even from well-wishers.
